In the quiet of the morning or the bustle of the day you can create a temple of praise. It takes but a single action. Gratitude in the moment in and for the small things. Sarah Ban Breathnach said Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world.
Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? (1 Corinthians 10:16) Our gratitude is holy. It is showing our thanks for the very act that saved/saves us and there is so much we have to be grateful for…for clouds that change even as we gaze…for warmth of human touch…the scent of a flower on the air…the smell of fresh baked bread or grandmother’s perfume…the sight of one who cares.
Look today and see what you find in the moment you passed blindly by just the day before and be grateful. You are here to enjoy this moment…that this time may not pass in vain.

This weekend I truly felt the words of Laura Story's "Blessings". More specifically...."what if your healing comes through pain... And what if the trials of this life, the rain, the storms, the hardest nights are Your mercies in disguise?" (I encourage you to listen to the whole song www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOOFAaUGfRE)We'd never have avoided a catastrophic event if not for a headache that took us to the doctor. As a result there were some very hard nights as a merciful and loving God healed one who might have otherwise met his end instead...mercies so amazing and such a blessing in disguise. Do you find yourself going through a hard night, pain, or a storm in your life? Can you fathom that it is a blessing to be revealed at a later time? In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire —may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. (1 Peter 1:6-7) If you're going through one of these times, tell someone that they may know and come around you with prayer and support and then may join you in the praise, glory and honor when Jesus is revealed in the situation. I am so very grateful for those amazing friends and family who shared in this great blessing in disguise. May God be glorified! Of all the "attitudes" we can acquire, surely the attitude of gratitude is the most important and by far the most life-changing. Zig Ziglar Make it a Great Day!! Debby

Every day I am amazed at the excitement and joy we can bring one another.
When you happen upon someone who enjoys the same type of research or has a common experience or hobby, isn’t it funny how we light up and just talk and talk –learning from one another. Time passes quickly as we further explore our interests and gain new insights.
Truly – all of life’s discoveries, joys, successes and “aha’s” are multiplied in the sharing with another.
Ever see an amazing sunset all alone and wish there was someone there to share that moment? We were meant to live in community, to share in each other’s joy and sorrow. The energy derived from those encounters is evidence enough of that.
Relish those moments shared with another, but in those quiet – wish someone else was here times – be still. Listen. Those are also the times when “God whispers in your ear.” It may be an idea that you know did not originate with you – a thought – an encouragement, but do enjoy that moment, too. He wants to share in it with you for you are enjoying His handiwork.
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. (Hebrews 3:13)
It’s a new day – smile – even if on the inside: it can’t help but work it’s way out.

I read an email some time ago that stuck with me. The wisdom of young 4 year old Billy in his innocence stopped me with its poignance....and importance. When asked what love was, he responded, 'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.' Billy Isn't that really what we all want...to know that our name is safe in another's mouth; that our absence isn't occasion for our name to be bantered about with speculation, rumor or inuendo? Wouldn't it be great if we (believers) became known as those with whom your name is safe; that in the midst of this world we were able to convey scripture by living it out? But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief. (Job 16:5) Would those that know you say their name is safe in your mouth? Do our words bring encouragement and relief from the trials of the day? Tomorrow brings a new day. I will seek to encourage and let the love of the Lord flow through me. Will you join me? gratitudeattitudetoday.blogspot.com/

So today you find yourself tempted to give in – it may seem harmless – but after all we are building a heritage/a legacy for others to see and say, “you made a difference in my life. You inspired me.” In order to do that, we must not give in, even to what appears to be the smallest of temptations – like participating in gossip, or giving an opinion where not welcomed nor invited, or supposing to know another’s motives in a negative light. Don’t give in. It will change everything! You are not alone. Others have been where you are and stood fast for much is at stake. Remember: No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1st Corinthians 10:13 I believe in you and there are so many that are watching your moves this very day to see how you handle the unkind comments of a co-worker, that trial at home or the casual onset of gossip. Be a peacemaker – be bold and faithful. There is a way to stand up keep your very legacy intact today. And just for kicks – remember for a moment that person you aspire to be – the one God created you to be – and smile. Here's a great song by Casting Crowns that is right on point. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxwcGyaOr6Y&feature=related

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.” Philippians 13:4
What privilege and joy it brings to my heart each time I think of YOU. I am often gulping back tears when I see you – where you’ve been – what God has done in your life. You bless me! Your spirit shines brighter than you know, and while we are hasty to see and catalogue all of our misdeeds, ills, faults and past – we miss that we could shine brighter, love more, and still realize the dreams and visions God has given us if we let those things slough off of us as old skin – retain the lesson, but lose the “yuck.”
It was shared with me once by a wonderful pastor friend that wounds of heart and soul heal. Sure, they are there.. but one day… they hurt less, then a while later they don’t hurt anymore, but the scar is still there. We’ll never forget because of the scar… but it no longer carries its pain and we can move on – loving better – into the world who has seen the wound and now your joy in moving on… and I always see a beaming, beautiful person emerging from the trial…. And I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.
Have a terrific day! Let your light shine bright!

For memory has painted this perfect day with colors that never fade… And we find at the end of a perfect day, the soul of a friend we’ve made. Carrie Jacobs Bond
Make a new friend or renew an old friendship today…. Bring life, hope and color to your life and the lives of those around you. Love one another - not just those you know, but those who are brought into your life as well.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. (John 13:34)

Some days you just need to keep going because you need to…. On those days, I count on this little statement/prayer: “I believe that there will be a perfect outcome to every situation in my life because God is in complete control.” I am so grateful that I do believe in God, that it is true that He created us in His image and that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (from Psalm 139). Interestingly enough – it also says that “my soul knows it full well.” Often I confuse how I feel at any given moment with the truth. So today I’m reaching for, grasping, hanging on to…. The truth. I pray in those times for you that you are able to draw from the rich resource of the Word and be washed over by the truth – that you are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made and that your soul will shine forth welling up from inside so that you DO KNOW IT FULL WELL. Enjoy your day and God Bless!

Jean Paul Richter said, "Never part without loving words to think of during your absence. It may be that you will not meet again in this life."
What amazing words to live by. We are never guaranteed tomorrow. This year I have heard of more unexpected deaths of people who appeared to be healthy and were making plans that would take them well into their old age.
Were there words that haunted a friend with whom they'd had a spat, a relative with whom they no longer spoke over some imagined wrong? Is there someone that came to mind even as you read this? We must remember to "not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth." Proverbs 27:1 And because we know this, let us part in kindness, encourage one another, speak to one another in truth and love.
"Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing." 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Let's start this week off right!

When you look outside, it appears as though a perfect day awaits. Some fluffy white clouds among the bright blue sky beckon us to “come out and play.” Things aren’t always as they seem. The heat smacks you in the face as you bear its brunt in the sunlight and entering your vehicle is like stepping into an oven. When conflicts with people, a change in our business climate, the economy or just general problems bombard us, it can feel like the heat is on. Sometimes it can leave you feeling bewildered and wondering how to even pray. It is in those times that …the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words (Romans 8:26); Sometimes it’s hard to remember that we can literally “let go and let God.” Let us trust that perfect intercession is taking place on our behalf. As the heat bears down, I am grateful for an amazing physical embrace holding me in utter contentment and for the inner embrace of the Spirit. My song? ….Oh Lord, Let Your Spirit fall here. Wind from heaven blow. Purify our hearts today, fire of heaven glow…. Manifest Your glory, boldly now we call. Nothing else will satisfy. Let Your Spirit fall. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rneXrUBBKEYI pray you are touched by the Spirit today in such a way as to know that God is with you, indeed the Holy Spirit will pray on your behalf and He knows your name. gratitudeattitudetoday.blogspot.com/

Charles Swindoll said “There is no more significant involvement in another’s life than prevailing, consistent prayer. It is more helpful than a gift of money, more encouraging than a strong sermon, more effective than a compliment, more reassuring than a physical embrace.” How many times do we look at a day ahead or a circumstance and try to “figure out” how we are going to make it work. Imagine me – a creation – thinking I can even see all of the opportunities, tools, etc. available to me…. When all along the Creator Himself has told us – you have not because you ask not. He makes all things work together for good for those who love Him. That’s ALL things. So while prayer is not tangible, it’s the most awesome way we can contribute to another’s well being. God in His amazing love, power and kingdom has ALL – THAT’S EVERYTHING at His fingertips and His plans are far greater for us than we perceive or can dare to dream. So – open your heart, mind and soul. Close your eyes for a moment and remember your dream. Now – lay it at His feet…. And watch with wonder as He honors each step in faith as you walk toward the dream He has given you. Blessings upon blessings to you today… and pray! Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Some time ago I chanced to speak to a lady who was heading out on a cruise the following week. As we spoke she indicated to me that this was a trip she and her husband had planned to take, but, alas, he died two months after a cancer diagnosis several months ago and so now her daughters would be accompanying her. She continued to say that they had been married for 53 years at his passing. You could see in her eyes that she was looking to another place and time as she lamented, “where did the time go? We had 14 years of retirement together. But, my time has just flown by. Where did the time go?”
Today, my friends, is again, a new day. We have the opportunity to make this day different from the rest… a new day to work on how we will be remembered. Are we living our lives in such a way as to make each day count? Are we living “on purpose?” I aim to. I want anyone who knows me to be able to smile, even chuckle, when they remember me…. as a character, an encourager, friend and lover of life and those within it. So today is my opportunity to smile – and no matter what the day brings – make it count – ON PURPOSE. You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in Your providence watched over my spirit. Job 10:12 NIV
Today - let's show kindness, laughter and the light of love that comes from our Creator – remember that a smile can change your whole day – and someone else’s at the same time.
I can almost see your sparkling smile now.

Wow!!! What a blessing! As I walked out of work today, a cool breeze was blowing and the sky had a couple of isolated, yet dark and menacing clouds. I thought perhaps we'd be in for a sprinkle, but as the night wore on, the bright flashes of light and rumbling told a more fabulous story! It was a wonderful surprise. Boom!! You're just going along and BAM a blessing just falls from above. Blessings, however, don't often show up with a flash and bang and we don't always call them blessings when they come. I don't think we will know until we leave this life, all those things we saw as annoyances and inconveniences and even trials that were indeed blessings: the alarm that didn't go off and further delay as the road was blocked with traffic due to a horrible accident - the one we might have been in had we been on time that morning; or the metal sliver that the wind blew into an eye, causing a doctor's visit, the exam revealing a more serious condition that, if discovered later, might have been fatal; or the job we didn't get...only to find that had we been employed at that time, our resume might forever carry the mark of a company that had defrauded its customers. I encourage you to look back and to reflect on situations in your life that you could not see a benefit in at the time, but how God truly did work ALL things together for your good. Still, we see only a glimpse. I can honestly say, however, that some of my deepest and darkest times have also been times of incredible spiritual growth as I leaned wholly and only upon God. I wouldn't necessarily choose to walk through them again, but I wouldn't change those times in my life. But today, I encourage you to enjoy Laura Story's song, "Blessings". I've provided the link here for your convenience. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mmgV6mPvb0The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. Recently we received challenging news in the work place. There were different reactions by different people and some were crankier than others. There was one individual whom had rained on many a parade throughout the week, robbing some of victories and creating avenues of doubt and confusion for others. As I was becoming a bit unnerved at their unkindness, God reminded me so faithfully that I had not been praying for that person. I had not been asking God to soften their heart that they might be able to receive the love of God and kindness and love of others. I confessed this failure and sin of not praying for those around me in earnest, but only those prayer requests that had been presented to me for prayer to a trusted believer and we agreed to pray for those around us with greater earnest.
How can we expect to effect change and turn the tides toward love and gratitude, if we don't first prepare the way for it's receipt? As I pondered on this and began to pray more completely over the weekend, I was convicted again as the words of my daughter came to me. (God has often spoken truth in love to me through her.) She said, "Mom, you can't expect someone who doesn't show fruit in their life to do as God would have them do. You just have to pray for them." She is so wise.
This week I start a new... prayer list, new attitude, prayed up and filled with love for those around me that I and they might be healed and together we might accomplish much. I invite you to join me as I pray over this mailing list and include those God has placed upon my heart (along with those requests that come my way).
Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. James 5:16
I can't wait to see what God does!
