Well, the heat is here and we've got a great place to beat the heat. It's the Cedar Breaks National Monument - Wildflower Festival run. The temperature is expected to be 67 on Sunday - so you'll even want to bring a jacket. Sunday, July 24th is the last Sunday for the Wildflower Festival. We will be eating breakfast at 8:00 a.m. at the Iron Skillet (6595 N Hollywood Blvd, Las Vegas, NV89115-1769, just off the Racetrack exit). If you prefer a little more sleep, we'll be departing the Iron Skillet at 8:45 a.m.
Cedar Breaks National Park is 180 miles from the Iron Skillet - an approximate 3 hours. There is a wildflower hike offered at 1:00 PM. Because of the lower temperatures there, some regions of the park still have snow, you might consider bringing a jacket. I'd also consider bringing some water bottles so you may take one on the hike, if you desire. There is also a scenic drive (more info to follow). We will leave the park following the return of those going on the hike. We will then head back down and have an early dinner in St. George. Please RSVP as to whether you wish to enjoy the hike or not, so we can make those plans with the park visitor's center.
We will take a concensus regarding the restaurant stop on the way back from those who are on the run.
